Pee Wee Crayton
Texas Hop and Selected Singles 1947-1957 2CD
Double disc collection of original recordings from the golden decade (1947-'57) of great Texas blues guitarists Pee Wee Crayton.
As with many Texas blues guitarists Crayton was influenced by T-Bone Walker.
However unlike many other T-Bone followers he managed to imbue his style with considerably more original elements which gave him an enviable chart run in the late 1940s.
Included here are his singles recorded for Gru V Tone, Modern, Recorded in Hollywood, Imperial and VeeJay Recordsbetween 1947 and 1957.
The set showcases some of the best examples of his work such as his #1 hit Blues After Hours plus Texas Hop, I Love You So and many more.
Considering how influential his guitar techniques became Pee Wee Crayton is a generally underappreciated talent.
In recent years his importance has been reappraised and here are 55 fine examples of his exemplary art.
