The best of the Stray Cats TV performances!
With their infectious blend of driving rockabilly and contemporary attitude, the Stray Cats took the world by storm in the early 1980s, spearheading the decade’s rockabilly revival in the process.
Helped along the way by a string of superb albums - including Stray Cats, Built For Speed and Rant ‘n' Rave With The Stray Cats - it was their reputation as a dynamic live act that caught the attention of audiences across the globe.
As a result, it’s no surprise that they made numerous appearances on national television, particularly in the USA.
This collection brings together the very best of these TV transmissions, recorded at various junctures across their career.
The set begins in 1981 with a selection from the Stray Cats performance on Fridays – a show considered to be the main competitor to Saturday Night Live – before continuing with the band’s performance at that year’s American Music Awards.
These are followed by several tracks recorded at the famous Roxy nightclub in 1982 and 1983, along with cuts from the ’83 US Festival.
The closing numbers on this collection are made up from two appearances after their initial reunion: first on the Endless Summer show in 1989, and finally a performance on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1990.
