Susie Darlin' - The Robin Luke Story CD
Although regarded as a One-Hit Wonder, Robin' Luke's first class recorded legacy belies that notion, as demonstrated by this 34 track collection which anthologises his career between 1958-62, and also includes a trio of unfeasibly rare studio outtakes.
In a brief recording career (he quit singing in 1962), he also enjoyed a number of significant regional successes, most notably on his home turf of Hawaii where he was established as a major star.
His signature hit, the gentle, haunting Rockabilly ballad Susie Darlin', has in particular aged well.
This was his very first record, and it made the US Top 5, charted internationally, and sold in excess of a million and a half copies.
He also charted in the U.S.A. with My Girl, while releases like Chicka Chicka Honey, You Can't Stop Me From Dreaming, Five Minutes More, a cover of Marty Wilde's UK hit Bad Boy, Everlovin' and All Because Of You were all regional successes.
