In the 1950s, Memphis, Tennessee and the local Tri-State area seemed to act as a catalyst for a stunning pot-pourri of music from supercharged R&B to plaintive Hillbilly, to cotton patch Blues, to the intense emotion of Gospel and the tough sounds of Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly. It was all there and it was an Alabama man - Sam Phillips - who was the first to realise that so much talent needed an outlet and duly founded the Memphis Recording Service. The results have become history and many other local entrepreneurs attempted to emulate Sam's success with varying results. Some Companies floundered after only two or three releases, others released a credible catalogue of 45s, whilst a few, such as Fernwood and Meteor would actually enter the Billboard Charts with sizeable hits. This CD represents a documentation of one of those smaller, highly individual record companies - Vaden Records. Many hot rockin' tracks make their CD debuts here, and the accompanying booklet presents detailed liner notes and label discography. Featured artists: Larry Donn, Joyce Green, Johnny Moore, Bobby Lee Trammell, Teddy Redell, Bobby Brown & The Curios, Chuck Comer, Bobby Crafford & The Pacers, Vena Townsend, Bill Duniven, Ray Baker.
