The Brit-Everlys' Sound - Wish We Could Sing Like Phil & Don! CD
Within months of The Everly Brothers scoring their first hit records in 1957, their influence was already being felt. Duos, trios and groups were queueing up to try and sound like them, while their own releases were frequently covered by UK artists, some rather more successfully than others. This collection presents 37 valiant British attempts to capture Don and Phil's magic, and it's a surprisingly enjoyable listening experience. Featured artists range from big names like Billy Fury, The Brook Brothers, The Allisons, etc., to the wholly obscure, e.g. Lee & Jay Elvin, The Bird Twins, The Day Brothers, etc.. There are a few hits here, including a couple of biggies, but many of these were 45s that fell just below the radar, didn't quite make it, and are now collectors' rarities. Several of these sides are remarkably rare and have never previously appeared on CD.
