Reflections In Rhythm & Blues - 1951-1953 CD
Preston Love was an American alto and tenor saxophonist from Omaha, Nebraska, perhaps best known as a sidesman with artist like Ray Charles, Lucky Millinder, Nat Towles, Lloyd Hunter etc.
He worked extensively with producer Johnny Otis during 1951, recording sides like Twilight Blues and Strictly Cash for Federal Records, before launching the shortlived Spin label in 1952, in partnership with Otis.
Spin's biggest record was Love's Jumpin' For Charles, written for 'Dolphins of Hollywood' deejay Charles Tramell.
This unique 22 track collection reissues everything that Preston Love recorded between 1951 and 1955.
