True You Don't Love Me CD
Paul Gayten
True You Don't Love Me - Early Recordings 1947-1949 CD
Paul Gayten was probably the key figure in the early emergence of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues.
He wasn't the only Crescent City bandleader of the period to make his mark on black American music - but as both an artist and a local A&R man for the De Luxe label, Gayten was able to get many legendary artists and musicians into a studio and onto a record for the first time.
His own records for that imprint included many huge sellers that are part of the foundation on with Rhythm & Blues was built.
Sadly the CD reissue market has neglected him, but this important release covers an area of Paul Gayten's career that has not previously been anthologised for almost 40 years.
