I'm the Bluest Gal In Town CD
Nicknamed 'TV Mama', Marie Adams was best known by UK audiences for her role in The Johnny Otis Show with her backing singers, The Three Tons Of Joy.
She'd however enjoyed earlier success as a singer, recording Gospel and R&B material for the Peacock label, before hooking up with Johnny Otis in the mid-1950s.
Otis hosted his own radio and TV shows in Los Angeles and Marie, plus sisters Sadie & Francine McKinley, as the Three Tons Of Joy (their combined weight topped 800lbs), were a major focus.
This is the first CD collection to encompass all the different elements of Marie's recording career, covering the period 1951 to 1958.
Includes are her US hit I'm Gonna Play The Honky-Tonks (#3 R&B 1952) and the Johnny Otis Show's later UK Top 20 hits Ma He's Makin' Eyes At Me (#2 1957) and Bye Bye Baby (#17 1958).
