Johnny Burnette's Rock 'n' Roll Trio (Expanded Edition) CD
Johnny Burnette's Rock 'n' Roll Trio (expanded edition) CD
One of Rock 'n' Roll/Rockabilly's 'Holy Grail' releases, the 10" LP Johnny Burnette's Rock 'n Roll Trio was originally issued in the USA on the Coral label, in December 1956.
It was a near-perfect body of work, on which the basic Trio of Johnny & Dorsey Burnette and Paul Burlison, were famously augmented by Nashville 'A' Team guitarist Grady Martin, who played those memorable licks and solos.
They'd also recorded sufficient material for a second album, Tear It Up, built around its blistering title track, which belatedly appeared in the UK (although not the US) in 1969.
Between them, these two LPs presented the entire recorded legacy of The Rock 'n Roll Trio.
This collection presents both albums, plus further bonus tracks recorded by Johnny and Dorsey either solo or as a duo, from sessions which stylistically retained the fire and drive of the Rock 'n Roll Trio.
