Hipbone Slim and The Kneejerks
Get A Move On LP (vinyl)
The Kneejerks' third album is their absolute best so far - packed with killer garage beat surf rockin' blasts!
This release features 16 toppermost tunes including 15 original compositions written by prolific band leader Sir Bald, plus one jaw dropping cover version.
The album kicks off with said cover, a ferocious butt kickin' rendition of Gene Vincent's latter era classic Bird Doggin'.
The tracks then continue to wind across all rough, ready rockin' 'n' punkin' styles from late '50s rock 'n' roll and R&B, through '60s beat, surf and garage, '70s punk and '80s Medway sounds.
This shouldn't be surprising given drummer Bruce's background with The Milkshakes and Thee Headcoats - not to mention two albums with the great Link Wray.
Along the way the 'Jerks deliver all manner of the rawest rhythm 'n' beat nugget from monstrous Link Wray inspired rippers, through wild and woolly organ and fuzz driven Back From The Grave-garage punkers, to frat-rock party anthems.
There's also raw "Bo meets Wolf" tinged harp wailin' R&B stomper and a slinky and moody Johnny Kidd influenced original.
Then there's a couple of out-and-out dance floor friendly twist 'n' jivin' rockers to get your party started!
You even get Baldie's finest and wildest ever Dick Dale style reverb dripping surf instro blaster to boot!
So, Get A Move On and grab what is undoubtedly Hipbone Slim's (aka Sir Bald Diddley) finest album yet.
