Fourteen Karat Gold CD
Hank Locklin
Fourteen Karat Gold CD
30 track collection presenting Hank Locklin's classic recordings from 1951 to 1957.
International success was a long time coming for Hank Locklin, but it finally arrived in 1960 thanks to his big hit Please Help Me I'm Falling.
Prior to his success with that song, Locklin had been making records for more than a decade - solid Country records that sold well in their intended market without ever really crossing over, including his original version of his own song Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On.
This is one of many goodies featured in Fourteen Karat Gold, a collection that brings together the very best of Locklin's 1950s recordings including all of his Billboard Country & Western chart hits of the decade for RCA, Decca and Four Star Records.
The emphasis may be on the harder, honky tonkin' side of Locklin's catalogue, but there are also great examples of the ballad style that would make him a star throughout the following decade.
