One of the great masters of old-style country music who performed from the early 1930s until he retired in 2006 – a career of over 70 years!!
Doc Williams was the much loved flagship star of the famous WWVA Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia.
The CD presents 28 tracks spanning 1947 to 1960, all fully remastered, mostl previously unreleased on CD, and some never reissued in any format since the original 78 rpm singles.
Features many of his most popular songs including My Old Brown Coat, The Man In The Moon, Roses Are Blooming, Little Box Of Pine and Fiddler Joe, along with vocal versions of such classics as Silver Bell, Red Wing and Merry Maiden Polka, most commonly heard as instrumentals.
You will also hear Doc’s famous blind accordionist Marion Martin, the melodic voice of Doc’s wife Chickie Williams and Doc’s brother, singer and fiddler Cy Williams.
The booklet includes detailed liner notes by country music writer and broadcaster Paul Hazell.
