Today Chuck Willis is rightly acknowledged as a breakthrough pioneer of Rhythm & Blues who, after a few years of R&B chart hits suddenly, broke through to the mainstream with a string of hits in 1957 and 1958.
It's Too Late was a R&B hit for Chuck in 1956 and proved instantly popular with other stars, generating recordings from Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Charlie Rich.
Chuck Willis was a real singer/songwriter before the description was ever used and this superb 2CD set from is a fitting testimonial to his immense talent.
This unique double disc set presents his Chuck Willis' classic recordings on disc one, whilst disc two celebrates his song writing talent with performanes of his songs from artists including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Lula Reed, The Skyliners, The Five Keys, Vince Taylor, Ruth Brown, The Clovers, The Cadillacs, Ronnie Hawkins and many others.
