Bill Black Combo
The Jasmine EP Collection CD
The most famous bassist in the history of Rock 'n' Roll, Bill Black played on virtually everything that Elvis Presley recorded before he went into the U.S. Army.
Eighteen months after splitting with Presley, he formed Bill Black's Combo and carved out an unlikely, hugely successful second-stage career.
His Combo had a wholly unique, instantly identifiable sound and style, and registered a dozen hit singles and five chart albums between 1959-1962, selling more than ten million records.
This collection is drawn from EPs issued in the USA, the UK, France, Sweden and Holland between 1960 and 1962.
It includes many of those early hits, including the million sellers Smokie part 2, White Silver Sands, Josephine, Don’t Be Cruel and Blue Tango, alongside various near-misses, a couple of flips, and a selection of album tracks.
